We are going back to the golden age in 2027:
Kiss Me, Kate
Suffolk Young People’s Theatre will be back in 2027 with another amazing show for all to enjoy.
This years show is going to be a riot!
Leading lady Lilli Vanessi and her ex-husband, the charming but impossible actor-director Fred Graham, are starring opposite each other in a musical version of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. Old flames spark, tempers flare, and the battle of the sexes spills off the stage and into the wings. Add a flirtatious showgirl, a gambling-mad leading man and two gangsters who get a taste for the theatre, and opening night quickly becomes anything but routine.
Packed with romance, comedy, style and backstage chaos, Kiss Me, Kate brings together four brilliant writers: Sam and Bella Spewack, Cole Porter and William Shakespeare. The score is one of Broadway’s best, with “So In Love”, “Wunderbar”, “Tom, Dick or Harry”, “Too Darn Hot”, “Brush Up Your Shakespeare”, “I Hate Men”, “Always True to You (In My Fashion)” and “Another Op’nin’, Another Show”.
Don’t miss SYPT’s talented young company in this sparkling Cole Porter classic. It’s guaranteed to be too darn hot this summer!
Music and Lyrics by Cole Porter. Book by Samuel and Bella Spewack. Kiss Me, Kate is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of Tams-Witmark LLC.
